What is Canine Assisted Therapy?
Our Canine Therapist is assisted by our specialty-trained psychological sidekick, Rocky who is very friendly with kids and the elderly and has done several home visits.
Canine-Assisted Therapy is the incorporation of a dog into a talk therapy or play therapy counseling session. The canine acts as a co-therapist by engaging in the process to help improve the individual’s emotional health.
The addition of a dog to the therapeutic process promotes stronger attachment, empathy, catharsis, higher cognitive functioning, problem-solving, and the facilitation of social skills.
